PacNW: Fear High Winds Again
The Pacific Northwest Coast is already mired in another bad weather situation. Additional rain will fall, and although it will not likely be at the record levels from earlier this week (the storm is weaker and some of the precipitation is falling as snow), flooding problems will still occur.
ROMAN (The Government Mesonet) reports that winds have already gusted to 60 mph on the coast, as of 2 PM Sunday. But the real meat of the storm system comes tonight, when wind gusts could approach 100 mph. High winds will also be experienced in the high mountain ranges of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana (where winds gusted to 120 mph earlier this week). Waves over 20 feet are also possible near shore.
Stay tuned to this blog for updates on wind gusts as the storm progresses. Below are the forecasts for sustained winds (AccuWeather) and Wind Gusts (NWS).
