Our First Official Snowfall Map For NE, Deep South!

UPDATE: There will be snow in the Deep South too!
As predicted late yesterday, snow and ice amounts started to show up in the AccuWeather.com forecasts and WeatherAlarms for those of you who are in the path of this end-of-week snowstorm in the Northeast. Here's a map from our Pro site mapping those predictions which are coming up on AccuWeather.com.
One of the problems with predicting snow amounts during this storm is the sleet factor. Some freezing rain and sleet will mix in over much of this area, and that will keep snow amounts far below what they would have normally been (by both draining the atmosphere of moisture with no visible accumulation, and crushing down what is on the ground already). Here's a map showing our expected freezing/rain sleet accumulation (and I'd guess that it will be even more widespread than this):
The models, be they WRF, NMM or GFS, are pretty much in agreement with our forecast -- most of the snow falling on an axis through the mid-Atlantic Appalachians through Central Pennsylvania.
Some of you asked why it didn't happen sooner, and why we don't yet have a hand-drawn map of accumulations. The reason is simply that, while we bloggers can say anything, the "official" AccuWeather.com forecast is much more conservative and requires a consensus of all of our 100 meteorologists. Otherwise, we'd jump on every GFS prediction of snow this season (which would be over 100 inches for me so far I think :))
