One Year Ago, Central PA Floods
I just took a moment to reminisce about flooding here in Central Pennsylvania last September.
First, the remnants of Hurricane Francesdropped 2-6 inches of rain over our area. Then nine days later, what was left of Hurricane Ivan combined with a frontal system to bring 6-8 inches of rain to Central Pennsylvania in mid-September 2004.
Creeks and rivers were simply overwhelmed. In some places, the flooding exceeded that of the 1996 flood, some places exceeded everything since Agnes in 1972, and others still claimed worse flooding than anything since 1917.
I took the photo below facing AccuWeather HQ after Frances.
The next photo was at the Nittany Mall in State College, PA, after Ivan.
You can see all my photos online from both the event and the 9/18 event.
