Okeechobee Fire Scar, Closer WI Tornado Track
From NASA this week... a forest fire scar on Lake Okeechobee, Florida, as seen by satellite...
... This image shows the burn scar left on the landscape by the fire. Captured on June 23, 2007, by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on NASA’s Terra satellite, the image reveals that a huge swath of the marsh between the lake and the surrounding Herbert Hoover Dyke was scorched.
And also a closer-in look via satellite at the Wisconsin tornado path that I mentioned earlier this month...
... The Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) instrument on Landsat 7 examined the tornado damage on June 15, 2007. The wide, bare swath of destruction from the tornado is very evident here, where trees were torn down by winds, leaves stripped from their branches, or where agricultural fields outside the Reservation were flattened.
