Oily Orange Snow in Siberia
Reuters reported last week that "oily yellow and orange snow" fell last week in Omsk, Siberia. The Russian government was reportedly flying a mobile lab into the area to investigate. There is actually a photo of the snow on the web (creepy).
This week, AC reported that the snow, which affected 27,000 people and was also green in some areas, was not found to be toxic but the color could not be explained by the testing. No adverse health effects have been reported. The investigation continues, with sand or seaweed as the primary suspects.
Colored rain and snow occur from time to time, but it's the oily comment that's got me confused on this one. Oh well, you know what they say - don't eat the yellow snow.
