O.T.: CBSUPNWB, Magnum's Return

Big entertainment news today.

In a bizarre move, Warner Bros. and CBS announced today that they would combine UPN and WB into a new television networked called "CW". This is big news for those of us who watch too much TV. Maybe this will cure UPN's problems with never being carried on cable -- I haven't seen it since I was in college.

In other news, Magnum, P.I. is coming to the big screen. Those of you who read my TV list closely will know that I listed this as one of my all-time favorite TV shows. Despite the director's last movie (Dodgeball), Rawson Marshall Thurber isn't going to make a spoof, according to the CNN article. So far, IMDB seems to be clueless and there's no word on who might play the parts of the inquisitive Magnum, suave Rick, or good-ol-boy T.C.

It's always tough to see a good 80's show redone as a movie, but I guess I'm as hyped about this as I was about Dukes of Hazzard, which turned out to be decent (again, see my TV page).
