O.T.: A Week Off, Well Appreciated
I apologize for my lack of blogging this weekend -- I have never taken two days off from blogging before. It was truly a huge undertaking to move into this new house, but it was worth it. The weekend was literally bruising and straining, and I got little sleep. But today I have my toes in the new carpet and relax in the bliss of Central Air. I am rebuilding my computer room in my new home and will be back in the blogging game soon.
My wife has to work this week, but I am taking vacation, so that I may unpack dozens of boxes (which the cats are now taking a keen interest in exploring). It's a surreal feeling to be out and about during the day, because normally when I take vacation, I travel and literally take a vacation. This week is different.
This morning I ate breakfast at McDonalds, something I hadn't done in probably 10 years. I felt I deserved it, considering that I had just spent two hours finalizing cleaning of our old house and dragging piles of trash to the curb.
My 10-year wait for breakfast constituted nothing against McDonalds (although my favorite breakfast food there, the Sausage Biscuit, a southern delicacy, is quite unhealthy). In fact, I almost never eat breakfast at all, quoting lack of time or food allergies as excuses.
The masses are at work at 10 a.m., and I was the youngest person in the restaurant. Watching the breeze move the spring leaves outside, I felt like I was playing hookie.
That was followed by a lengthy Wal-Mart trip to pick up things for the new house. This afternoon, it's back to unpacking, putting furniture together, and arranging.
Thanks for sticking with my blog; I'll be back on weather topics tonight or tomorrow.
