Northeast Clobbered, Nearly 2 Feet

The Northeast was clobbered by our blizzard overnight. Heavy snow continues this morning in Delaware, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and eastern Massachusetts. Temperatures are frigid, far from freezing even in coastal areas. Some areas have reported over 2 feet of snow. Reagan, Newark, LaGuardia airports are closed. 120,000 people are without power in D.C., another 60,000 in Baltimore (CNN). AccuWeather.com's Jim Kosek is broadcasting video updates in Parsippany, New Jersey (see screencap below). Radar/Pressure/Wind image at left by AccuWeather.com RadarPlus.

The region's first major storm this winter slammed the Northeast with a foot of snow by early Sunday and showed no signs of letting up, canceling flights from Boston to Washington, D.C., and knocking out power to tens of thousands of homes.
