New York City Snow!
Meteorologists explained this morning why significant snow fell last night in the New York City area. It shouldn't have come as a "surprise" because we warned users of slick roads on Facebook last night. Henry Margusity discussed it in his morning video, while Elliot Abrams noted:
AccuWeather meteorologists said the snow was not lake-effect, but rather as a result of the area being under the upper-level low pressure system. Henry reported in his video that the system is expected to continue to move northeastward towards Boston today and Elliot said "The next question is whether that area of snow will spread across southeastern New England today. If you live in the affected area, please check the AccuWeather.com radars to monitor its progress."
Although the morning commute has helped melt most of the snow from the roads in the city as of 9:00, there were early morning road closures and accidents, the worst a 10-car accident near Dix Hills.PHOTO CAPTION: Snow on the Bronx River Parkway, courtesy New York D.O.T.
