New Mexico Declared Disaster Area
Two and a half feet of snow fell in parts of New Mexico this weekend, followed by freezing fog Saturday night, shutting down Interstate 40 from Arizona to Texas, according to KOBTV. Governor Richardson has declared the state a disaster area and thousands are still without power. This afternoon, I-40 was closed again from Amarillo westward, according to the NWS, who goes on to say that "MAIN HIGHWAYS OVER THE NORTHWESTERN TEXAS AND WESTERN OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES ARE ALSO CLOSED." Though from the webcams, conditions didn't look that bad. The TX DOT website says that I-40 will be closed until further notice.
