Negative 64? Now That Is Cold

December 7, 2013; 2:22 PM ET

The coldest air of the season plagued Montana and surrounding Canada last night, knocking temperatures well into the -40s F, with wind chills in the -60s! This map shows temperatures at 7:30 MT; below is a list of the coldest spots, per MesoWest & Coolwx.com. At one point this morning, the mean temperature of the United States was 16.2 degrees!
