Neat Long-Term Warning, Spotter Report Maps
A quick blog today on a couple of neat long-term maps and some stats that NOAA produces. I am a big fan of severe weather statistics, so these are right up my alley.
For more on the Southeast and Northeast winter storm, monitor our News & Headlines (at right) and discuss the storm in our Forums (if I post anything I will put it in J's Breaking Weather News at right). Our first snowfall map is now out.
First, SPC's monthly and yearly (since 2000) severe weather maps & charts. These show tornado, hail, and wind reports on US or state maps and charts. Neat to see where the severe weather occurs. A sample from 2009 (so far) is shown below:
Next up, NOAA's monthly severe weather warnings maps. These maps show every warning issued in the United States for today, this week, and there are also monthly archives. Fascinating.
