NE Storm May Make Landfall in Maryland
Sounds crazy right? The non-tropical system off the mid-Atlantic coast is not looking good this morning on the RadSat and little rain fell yesterday afternoon and evening, and is moving out to sea, but this story is not over. It will continue to move further out today and by tonight you may think it's all over, but the models are predicting the storm to turn around and come back by the end of the week, in fact according to this map from our Pro site, the NMM model has the storm coming onshore as a surface low pressure system on the Maryland coast Friday:
The winds that it has with the storm are not strong, so there may be little if any damage. Rip currents and rough seas will be on the rise again however. Heavy rain could be a problem; the NMM says it will be centered mostly offshore from Delaware through while the GFS picks the state as ground zero. The NMM also gives southeast NY state a shot at heavy rain, maybe because of up-sloping effects that the GFS can't see.
These predictions, of course, will change with every model run, so keep an eye on AccuWeather.com where our meteorologists will be taking the latest model runs into account when creating our own forecast.
