NE Extreme Heat: 90s, RF 100s in KY Hills
The heat in the Northeast quadrant of the nation is extreme again on Friday, and will continue Saturday and Sunday. A couple historical comparisons follow. Many record highs were set on Thursday according to NCDC; the Virginias dominated, check out this list:
The extreme heat is expected to last through this weekend, except for late in the period when a backdoor cold front will provide relief to New England. Believe it or not, it's hotter than July 4th was in some parts of Pennsylvania and New England:
Many areas are 20 degrees or more above normal and the Jetstream has retreated far into Canada.
Much of the Ohio Valley will be in the 90s on Saturday, with RealFeel temperatures over 100 in the hill country of Kentucky, where London is expected to smash its high temperature record by 8 degrees! Here are some sample city temperatures obtained from forecasts on AccuWeather.com:
