N.O. Still Vunerable, NOAA Hurr. Forecast
The media is abuzz this morning with Hurricane information, and we're still a week off from the season's start.
Here's what CNN is reporting on-air:
1. NOAA's hurricane forecast will be released through a press conference at 11 a.m. Eastern (the AccuWeather.com forecast was released last week)
2. About 80% of the flooding in New Orleans could have been prevented, and the city is still vunerable due to cheaply designed levees with design flaws, a National Science Foundation study says. The official report will be issued later this morning.
3. CNN is also reporting about Allstate's actions to discontinue insurance in hurricane-prone areas of New York (which I reported on last week). In the same spot, they are showing on-air a NOAA animation of storm-surge hitting New York City. I thought I also saw CNN showing a SLOSH model of a hurricane hitting NYC, but maybe I dreamed that. If you find it online, let me know.
