Moderate Risk for Carolinas!
For our web viewers, I have updated a video blog below in which I take a look at the line of storms moving through the city of Atlanta at 2:30 PM (with our new Interactive Radar application!) and explain why a Tornado Watch will be issued later this afternoon for the Piedmont of the Carolinas.
The SPC upgraded the Severe Storm Risk in the Carolinas this morning to a MODERATE RISK and have expanded that region to the west to include ALL of the Carolinas. Readers there should exercise caution in planning outdoor activities and travel today. Currently a line of heavy storms is moving towards Atlanta and a Tornado Watch is in effect for much of Georgia.
