Model Update on New England Snow Event
Here are the overnight models predictions of snowfall for the New England snow storm this weekend from the leading short-term forecast models. Note how far north the NMM Forecast Model [JessePedia] shifted with its latest runs (compared to the ones I posted yesterday). It appears to be "following" the forecast Madness Man issued yesterday morning.06Z NMM FORECAST SNOWFALL
The 4-KM WRF model is also saying (as of last night's 00Z run) that any significant snow will be limited to northern Pennsylvania and southern New York State, eastward over the higher elevations of Massachusetts and Connecticut.A zoom on the NY/PA border for the WRF notes maximum expectations of over 8 inches on the peaks in northern PA.AccuWeather.com Professional's Joe Bastardi [BIO] (PRO) confirmed in his blog headline this morning: "I-80 AND NORTH CORE OF THIS SHOT TO THE BODY OF SPRING" but he believes maximum amounts, up to a foot, will happen in southern New York state. He also believes that sleet and freezing rain will be possible on the southern edge of the storm, and the WRF seems to agree.
