Mayoral Hype for NorEaster, Models
Mayor Bloomberg from New York City just held a press conference -- the first that I recall for an "unnamed" storm event except possibly major blizzards. I think that speaks to the historic nature of this storm. The latest Forecast Model [JessePedia] maps are below.
Stay tuned to my blog tomorrow and Monday for the latest snowfall amounts, wind and wave reports, and news.
The GFS model predicts that a sub-978mb (sub-28.88" Hg, a solid Category 1 Hurricane) low will hover near Connecticut for nearly 24 hours:

The NMM model pretty much agrees, slightly weaker but sticking around for longer:
The WaveWatch model is still calling for 18-foot waves onshore, with waves higher than 24 feet offshore.
Bloomberg went on to explain that the city's emergency resources were ready for the flooding and wind damage that will likely come from the storm. AccuWeather meteorologist Dale Mohler was quoted by (ironically) Bloomberg.com, saying"This kind of storm will have a huge impact on travel, said Dale Mohler, senior meteorologist with State College, Pennsylvania-based AccuWeather.com. The storm will really set in Sunday afternoon. By April 16, the system may be as strong as a Category 1 hurricane, with winds above 74 miles per hour (119 kilometers per hour) and stretch from Maine to Florida and as far west as the Mississippi River, Mohler said."
