Latest Maps: Labor Day Fishing
In the latest run, the GFS computer model has weakened the hurricane and is taking it out to sea. As mentioned before, we'll likely see more swings in our only long-range model as we approach Labor Day Weekend. Stay tuned to AccuWeather.com Professional for the latest model information.
Here's that animation from this morning's run that I promised -- this is a classic, African-born, major hurricane, avoiding land and moving over the warmest ocean waters until it plows into New England. Scary stuff.
And here's how the model stacked up from successive "runs" today (closest approach to NYC shown):
Overnight (06Z) Run - Strong & In NYC
Morning (12Z) Run - Strong, Quicker & Heading for NYC
Afternoon (18Z) Run - Weaker & Out to Sea
