Late-Week Snowfall Slides South
Our snowfall forecast has changed significantly for the Alberta Clipper that will move through the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. The entire track of snowfall has shifted south overnight.
Most of Pennsylvania is out of the snowfall area now, while the state of West Virginia, and the Virginia mountains are in.
There's no disgrace in changing the forecast - small storms are often hard to pinpoint when the models disagree, and this is something that forecasters have to deal with every day. Unfortunately, a small shift in a storm's track can make a big difference in snowfall. If this were a rainstorm, no one would even notice the difference (which would be between 1/10th and 3/10th of an inch of rain). While overall accuracy is important, no one is right 100% of the time and the important thing is that we have alerted you to this significant change as soon as we found it.
