Lake-Effect Snow Measured in Feet, Webcams
SATURDAY UPDATE: Amounts of nearly 40 inches have now been reported from Lewis County, New York. Check out these incredible photos from Muskoka, Ontario.
FRIDAY UPDATE: I added a link to a new cam in Gaylord, Michigan; the live image is shown below. The Tug Hill cam is showing nearly 3 feet this morning (check out the comparison between last night and this morning shown below!) and the other webcams have increased considerably as well. Dunkirk is the one to look at today on the NY Thruway cams.
The highest amounts out of the NWS so far are around 21" but I think we're going to see some much higher ones shortly. Here's a radar shot from this morning, this band has been pretty steady for about 6 hours (note the radar "cone of silence" west of Lowville - radars can't see directly above themselves).
ORIGINAL POST: The lake-effect snow will be measured in feet today and it's been ongoing since last night. Unusually warm lakes will combine with unusually cold temps to create some impressive amounts. You can watch the snow bands snake around on AccuWeather.com Mapspace. One of our Facebook Fans in Carthage NY said they already had received 8 inches of snow and 10 inches was reported between 6 and 10 AM at Star Lake, NY!
You can find deep snow on the Tug Hill webcams and some of the NY Thruway I-90 cameras, especially Hamburg, which is in the snow this morning. OldForgeSnow.com (shown below with permission) also has a cam though it is farther inland.
Below are a couple of hi-res radar shots from this morning via AccuWeather.com MapSpace™ (PREMIUM | PRO):

Here's how much we're expecting as of this morning:
