Keeping an Eye on Florida Tropical Activity
There's actually a lot going on in the tropical Atlantic today, for a change. Of particular interest is Florida, not only because of possibly-future-Cristobal but because of a low pressure center that's hanging around the state. Our Breaking News Story says it "could develop tropical characteristics." Here's a look at the current visible satellite, lightning and surface winds (from the WRF model) via AccuWeather.com RadarPlus:

The latest visible satellite animation from NASA shows the system in Florida rotating, but of course it's a low pressure system so it would be doing that. The question is, is it tropical or not, and that's harder to determine. In any case, heavy rain will be the main problem in the state this week.
