INT: Winds Dis New Georgian Airport
The IHT reports that a newly-completed airport in , Georgia [Eurasian Georgia, that is] was torn apart by high winds Sunday. The new international airport terminal, a $65 million project, was completed in early February. Winds in excess of hurricane-force (75 mph) tore one-third of the metal sections of the roof off, and knocked out power to 150,000 in the capital city of Tbilisi.
Fox News was running some excellent footage yesterday of repair crews on the roof, trying to keep sections of it down as winds continued. The Messenger says that this is not the first weather-related problem in the new building -- it also started leaking during heavy rain earlier last week. They have the only photo that I was able to find of the damage.
