INT: Incredible Brazil Tornado, Snow in Athens
South American weather service Metsul (blog in Portugese) reports that a rare large tornado struck the coastal city of Tubarão in Brazil, and they send these photos (and one video) by Valdir Zaccaron:
Below is a radar image showing the hook echo on the storm.
Across the world in Athens Greece, a couple rare inches of snow fell Sunday morning. The Canadian Press says:
- Between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow blanketed the centre of Athens, an unusual occurrence in Greece
- The Mediterranean resort of Antalya had its first snow in 15 years
- Snow was 1.5 metres high in the province of Van in eastern Turkey
- In Istanbul, snow was 22 centimetres deep
