Incredible Video: Twister Flipping Cars in Alabama
UPDATE: You can download this video in high-res here, and it has been reviewed frame-by-frame in this new blog entry.
ORIGINAL ENTRY: If you missed it yesterday inside the video summarizing the tornado damage in the Southeast Friday, take a look at this surveillance video of a twister throwing cars around in Alabama, courtesy WHNT. I've never seen anything like it. Keep in mind too - you can see the tornado go by, it looks tiny as tornadoes go. This is a great example of how dangerous even a small tornado can be.

VIDEO CAPTION: What can only be described as amazing weather video was released Friday (05/09) by a small Alabama company. Officials at Leighton, Alabama's S & M Equipment Company watched security camera video of yesterday's (Thursday 05/08) close brush with Mother Nature's fury. As you can see a compact, but fully formed tornado, plows through the company's parking lot. The video shows large security gates swinging to and fro as the high winds and rains pick up from the approaching twister. Then in an instant the storm comes in from the right side of the television screen, tosses at least two cars and a full size pickup truck into the air, end over end. An instant later the storm disappeared from the upper left corner of the screen. Fortunately no one was injured in the encounter, but the vehicle owners will not have much of a fuss from their insurance companies after their losses are seen by much of the nation's TV viewers.
