Incredible Gulf Coast Video From Ike, Already
UPDATE: Someone asked for a direct satellite comparison of Katrina and Ike; as you can see, they were similar in size, Ike a bit bigger, but Katrina (left) was much more organized with an obvious eye.
UPDATE: Buoy 42001 has dipped to an incredible pressure in the 28.30"'s as Hurricane Ike passed very close to it. The COOPS Ike page continues to show incredible coastal flooding data, saying "As of 09/11/2008 17:00 CDT, water levels are rising along the Gulf coast from the Florida panhandle to Texas. Water levels along the Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana coasts are elevated by 3 to 6 feet with the highest water levels being recorded at Shell Beach, LA." In fact at Shell Beach, we are coming up on LOW tide (0 feet) but the actual level is over 6 feet (peaking at 6.69 feet at 10:30 PM).!
Here's a look at winds, pressure and satellite from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus at 7 PM:

Hurricane Ike is wreaking havoc from Texas to Florida already this afternoon. Check out this video from CNN
showing huge waves and flooding in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Here's .
Add to that the Raw Video playing at right of a house already surrounded by water in Galveston, Texas already. I am unable to confirm this on the Net, but FoxNews is also showing aerial footage of home surrounded by water - that pre-storm surge I mentioned earlier, like on the Mississippi coast where the water is 4 feet above normal. I'll check some of the coastal stations when I get home shortly to see what I can find. If you want to do some hunting, here are the links from earlier. You can get more info from the NDBC display, the CO-OPS display, or the USGS (different stations).
