I`m Sorry Dave: Japan`s 30-Year Cast
The Ministry of Science in Japan is expected to produce a 30-year weather forecast with their top supercomputer, The Telegraph reports. It was the world's most powerful until 2004, and up until now has been used for short-term forecasting. You can get sample imagery and animations by visiting their website.
Below is a shot of the computer itself, or series of computers as it were.
Is it just me or do these things look like Hal?? Before you know it, some Japanese scientist is going to be hearing that famous conversation:
Dave Bowman: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
Dave Bowman: What's the problem?
HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave Bowman: What are you talking about, HAL?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
