Ice Cuts Power Cut To 150,000, Mid-Atlantic Snow

By Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather meteorologist and senior weather editor

UPDATE: Below are the latest stats as of 9 PM. Many new Ice videos have been added to the Raw Videos at right. The similarity of the radars that I've posted today show the severity of the storm - the same places are continuing to get ice this evening while snow spreads north. We just got some great photos from Missouri:

RADAR SNAPSHOT FROM ENHANCED RADAR

UPDATE: My calculations at 3 PM showed that near 150,000 people had lost power in the Midwest, and the freezing rain is being measured in inches. The Mid-Atlantic has also been coated with a few inches of snow. Some of the Midwest freezing rain and sleet amounts seem incredible, but you can read about even higher historical amounts on my blog. NOTE: New Raw Videos are being uploaded at right, incredible stuff! Photo Gallery user wildabouthorses has uploaded some ice pics from Oklahoma:

Here are some of the incredible freezing rain and sleet totals from the NWS Spotters as of 8 AM Central Time (ironic, they are all "M" towns!):
