HYPE: Hurricane Season, Attn. Energy Traders
I know, I know, you were disappointed after we had Hurricane Dean and Tropical Storm Erin at the same time, and then all got quiet. Well, the models have listened and they have an array of possibilities for us this week. The NHC is already investigating not one but two areas of interest... one off the Southeast coast...
And another in the Caribbean. Remember, you can get those track maps on AccuWeather.com Pro.
Looking at the 12Z (morning) models, the NMM is interested in the first area off the Southeast coast, the GFS not so much, but DGEX is buying it.
Overall, the GFS is actually quite disappointing, not showing anything for the next two weeks. The NOGAPS pushes a weak low pressure towards the islands on Sept. 4th, the JMA a little later:

The WaveWatch model is *maybe* talking about something rolling off the coast of Africa on September 5th:

What does Hurricane Expert Joe Bastardi [BIO] (PRO) say? Something interesting: "The tropical wave that is lollygagging its northern part across the Yucatan will move into the southern Gulf tomorrow and while this has a chance to develop some."
But did you know? You can get even more detail, and maps. from Joe, geared for businesses, on our Energy Pro site. You'll absolutely need this if you're a gas or energy trader. Joe gives forecasts from now to 180 days out for the U.S. (with specific temperatures per city) and easy-to-read tropical maps, videos and discussions.
