Hurricane Ike Google Earth Vlog: Before and After

I know I said yesterday I was done with the Ike coverage, but I have to slip one more blog entry in... this one shows before and after shots of the Galveston and Crystal Beach / Gilchrist, TX shoreline. You can also download these yourself in Google Earth to compare them. Witness mangled seawalls and completely razed houses and businesses.

I hope Galveston recognizes that they escaped the catastrophic damage at Gilchrist and Crystal Beach (which the media didn't see for 24-48 hours because none were there and the bridge was out). Next time, they may not be so lucky. The storm may hit to their south, and it may be a lot bigger to this Category 2 storm, which I think caused extraordinary damage considering its classification.
