Hurricane Bill 45-Ft Waves, Photos, Radar
UPDATE:Buoy #44137 now has the highest waves, over 45 feet. Bill can now be seen on the Halifax radar (snapshot shown below).
Original Blog Entry: Buoy #44011 recorded 35-foot waves yesterday morning when Bill was a Cat 2, but Cat 1 Bill is causing 40-foot waves this Sunday morning at buoy #44150!
This is close to the center of the storm and the wind there is also gusting to 73.8 knots or 84 mph -- this is a canadian buoy so observations are limited to once an hour - conditions could have been worse in-between.

Unfortunately, many people have had to be rescued from rip currents - over 50 at Wrightsville Beach, NC alone yesterday according to this article. Here's a look at Bill this morning (still a Category 1 as of 8 AM):
