How Much Rainfall From Felix?
How much rain will fall in Central America as a result of Hurricane Felix? Both AccuWeather and the National Hurricane Center are predicting "10 to 15 inches", and the NHC says amounts could be as high as 25 inches locally.
How much rain has fallen? It's going to be hard to say because there are so few weather stations there (NCDC estimated that Mitch dropped as much as 75 inches of rain over this area in 1998, though only 24 inches was officially measured).
We may mostly depend on NASA's TRMM satellite to estimate the rainfall. As of 8 AM, it was estimating that at least 4 inches, if not 8, had already fallen over parts of Nicaragua and Honduras, as shown below in Google Earth (click here to find out how to view NASA TRMM data yourself in Earth).
P.S.: You can see Hurricane Henriette in the Eastern Pacific on Mexican Radar today, but she isn't looking that impressive (LIVE | ARCHIVED).
