How Much Rain For Water-Logged Midwest?
how much rain will fall in the water-logged Midwest during the next few days? Our official forecast is shown below, but this is what the 4-KM WRF FM says (total rainfall between Thursday morning and Saturday morning):
The model isn't perfect, but it's probably the best computer-generated guess we've got because it is high-res enough to detect individual thunderstorms. (We'll check back Saturday and see how it did).
Regardless of future rain, the damage may have already been done by yesterday's storms, which dropped over 10 inches in parts of northern Missouri. River crest forecasts have already been increased in response to that deluge.
If the model is right, these areas will be missed during the next two days, but a similar situation may happen in the eastern part of the state Friday night (after the end of the time covered by the graphic below).
Keep an eye on our Headlines (shown at right), and our Breaking Weather News Page (PREMIUM | PRO) for additional information on the flood potential.
