UPDATE (2 PM): Ike is now a Category 2. Thanks for the comments, keep them coming. But for forecasts of Ike's intensity or landfall location, please see the pink box below!

DISCLAIMER: This blog is written periodically and may not contain the latest information on specific storms, or may contain unofficial information. More up-to-date information is available in our Hurricane Center (PREMIUM | PRO) (including the official AccuWeather.com EyePath™ for storms), in our Weather Headlines (at right), on our Breaking Weather News Page (PREMIUM | PRO, and from official government channels. IGNORE THIS BLOG for protection of life/property!

That's because that box has the absolute latest info on Hurricane Ike. Here's an example of how to use it. Blog reader Mike wrote: "I live in Kemah, Tx. Are we out of the woods on this one? So far the local authorities have been silent." Mike, if you click on the Google Tracker link above, you can type in your town name and have it appear on the map along with the AccuWeather EyePath for Hurricane Ike.

As you can see, you're still in the window of possible movement for the storm, so I wouldn't let down your guard yet! However, you are a ways from the center, so I'm not surprised you haven't been evacuated yet. Also, we often run the graphic below in one of the Weather Headlines at right, or on our Breaking Weather News page. It indicates that your area is in the Some to Moderate risk.
