Houston, We Have a Flooding Problem
Chron.com reports this morning that heavy rain last night and this morning caused additional flooding in Houston. I say "additional" because the area was clobbered by 16 inches of rain on Sunday night (USA Today article & video).
RAINFALL SINCE TUESDAY NIGHT
Above is a NEXRAD Storm-Total precip map from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus, showing up to 3 inches downtown (4 & 5's NW of town are probably bogus due to ground clutter) and 5 inches southeast of town in the eastern tip of Galveston County. A Harris County 24-hour rain map confirmed with 3.43" downtown and 4.45" southeast of town.
Fortunately, most of today's heavy rain was in parts of town which were not inundated Monday (cross reference with map below).
