Holiday Weekend Blog Updates
I'm out of the office today for the July 4th holiday but be sure to see these important updates to recent blog entries:
1. "Hurricane Alex Mexico Flooding Similar to Gilbert?:" Our eyewitness AccuWeather.com fan in Monterrey, Mexico has issued his final thoughts on the deadly and historic flooding there, and he's (as recently as today) continued to upload photos to his Facebook album.
2. "Are Record High Gulf Sea Temperatures Due to Oil?:" In the Comments area on the AccuWeather.com Forums, I established the swing in below-normal to above-normal sea-surface temperatures in the area, and an RTG-SST specialist from NOAA chimes in about the potential inaccuracies in that analysis.
3. "A Chilly Morning in Central PA": "Extreme Weather" author Chris Burt points out that the cold weather continued into the month of July (I wrote the entry on June 30th) and that the state record low temperature for this month may have been threatened by the unusually cold weather. Ironically only 5 days since that low temperature of 39 at my station, I have spiked to 96 today, a rise of 57 degrees!
4. "Possible Tornado With Pennsylvania Severe Thunderstorms:" The tornado spoken of in this blog entry was confirmed by the National Weather Service, though they said it was embedded within a large area of straight-line winds.
5. "Possible Tornado Damages Michigan Campground: " This tornado was also confirmed, even though a Tornado Warning was never issued.
