Heavy Rain Misses Northeast Coast
UPDATE: When pushed for an explanation of why the rain missed some areas, AccuWeather.com meteorologists quoted the subtropical offshore storm system which swung a band of stability into the region before the front came through. Here's a radar loop (download) showing not one but two lines of storms dying as they approached NYC:
ORIGINAL POST: Although intense downpours dropped incredible amounts of rain in the inland Northeast U.S. and around Boston Friday evening into Saturday, the rain missed many coastal areas including northern New Jersey and New York City, as predicted.
A disappointment to local residents with brown lawns and water-starved gardens, it left much of the populous I-95 area in a severe rainfall deficit for the last week:
