Heat Wave: East Coast Will Hit 100 Plus!
The first major heat wave of 2008 will sizzle across the East Coast this weekend, but how hot will it get? The highest AccuWeather.com forecast I could find (leave Comments if you can find something higher!) was for Fredericksburg, Virginia, where we are forecasting a record-breaking high of 100 Sunday with a RealFeel of 112 Saturday. Yikes.
Our map only shows a couple tiny areas over 100 in Virginia and North Carolina...
But we are predicting RealFeel temperatures to be above 100 for much of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic starting on Friday...
And going through the weekend. And even in Boomer, North Carolina, my Mom's House (and childhood home) [Google Map], which is in the foothills of the state, we're predicting 97 tomorrow. Here in State College, Pennsylvania, home of AccuWeather HQ [Google Map], AccuWeather.com says we'll get up to 90 (which is rare here, even in the summer) but that cable channel of weather is claiming 95 on Monday. (The NWS says 89).
The NWS [JessePedia] is going for 100 in Raleigh and Fayetteville, North Carolina Saturday, making me homesick (or maybe just sick) for that Southern heat & humidity...
And 101 in Richmond and Fredericksburg, VA...
They think Philadelphia will take the cake in the Northeast, maxing out at 97 (we're saying 96).
