Happy White Easter! And Deep South Snow
UPDATE:The winter weather has extended to the Gulf Coast this Easter morning, with the following official stations reporting winter precipitation:
Ice Pellets (Sleet): MSY (New Orleans), POE (Pope AFB), MOB (Mobile AL), NBG
Unknown Precip [JessePedia] (Snow/Rain): LCH (Lake Charles), GAO
Snow Pellets: POE (Pope AFB)
LOCAL STORM REPORTS (WINTER)
In addition a number of local storm reports were issued in Louisiana, as you can see above. The NWS [JessePedia] in Shreveport, Louisiana issued this statement with the LSRs describing the snowfall in eastern Texas and Louisiana, listing amounts and offering a historical perspective of how rare this is, with some records from as far back as 1938 being broken. A statement was also issued out of Dallas, indicating that the snowfall there was the first April snowfall since 1938.
