Hanna Powers Through Mid-Atlantic With Heavy Rain
UPDATE: I uploaded some raw flooding video from Fayetteville, NC, Huntingdon, VA, Washington, DC and Ocean City, MD into the Raw Video player at right.
Tropical Storm Hanna (yes, it's still officially a Tropical Storm, but will lose tropical characteristics tonight or tomorrow) was located near Cambridge, Maryland as of the 5 PM advisory. She's moving quick, but even so is dropping a lot of rain - Doppler Estimates indicated a wide swath of 4 inches or more from North Carolina through New York State.
NOTE: This blog entry has been superceded by a newer one which has updated information. Look to "Recent Entries" at right, or click on Monthly Archives to see the newer entry.
The highest rainfall amounts that I've seen from rain gauges so far (NWS Public Statements):
WOODBRIDGE, VA: 8.34" OAKTON, VA: 7.83"
As far as I can tell, winds have been under 50 knots at coastal stations, and less over land, since she moved into Virginia (and 30 mph of that is her forward movement!). Let me know if you see stronger winds at any of the mid-Atlantic (or Northeast, at this point) observing stations.
