Gadget Deals: FLIR thermal camera, AcuRite monitor
Ladies and gentlemen, Black Friday / Cyber Monday has rolled around and for 2016 these are the best deals I could find on weather-related gadgets (also check out our 30-gadget slide-show for more weather-inspired ideas for gifts).
- FLIR ONE THERMAL CAMERA - $219. This is literally the first time this device has been on sale. That's right, the same Thermal Camera that you see on Ghost Hunters is now available for your cell phone -- at a price that's 10 to 100 times cheaper than the professional versions! I have one of these and it's way too much fun (my cat shown below). Point it at an object to see the pinpoint temperature, or look at five different gradients of color. Take a photo, video, or time-lapse.
- DJI Phantom 3 Quadcopter $399. This is the lowest price I've seen on what has become the standard in consumer drones. Although they've had trouble in the past with good customer service, they are taking over as the standard manufacturer this year.
- GOPRO HERO - $89. Again, the lowest price I've ever seen on a GoPro camera. I've reviewed many action cameras and none can beat the quality of GoPro.
- AcuRite Multi-Sensor Color Display, 3 Extra Sensors, MyAcuRite - $99. I've reviewed this setup before, but now it broadcasts to the Internet through MyAcuRite! For this price, you can watch your weather, inside and out (you get 3 extra sensors plus the display sensor), and get alerts via the new MyAcuRite service. Here's a current screenshot of my 9 sensor locations, tracking conditions from 13 sensors across my property from the HVAC humidity to the soil temp, to the temperature in the pipe closet. I can set email or text alerts for any of these.
- LOREX $1 Security Camera, $5 Action Cam, $9 Video Monitoring System(Sale Over Friday, Site Was Overwhelmed)
