Front Door Flooding Photo
I was working at home today here in State College, PA when we were hit with a line of extremely heavy rain and high winds. It looked like a hurricane out there. Although I was not in the AccuWeather building today, I am told the meteorologists were "going nuts." A tornado warning went out for our county due to rotating winds in the line of storms. It was quite impressive on radar; loops are available here.
A few minutes later I glanced out the window and saw that my street was flooded! Now, I'm smart enough of a meteorologist that I didn't buy My New House [JessePedia] in a flood plain, but it seems that the heavy rain (an inch in an hour!) caused street flooding and the fall leaves in the grates didn't help. I took a photo (of course)
Then ran out into the storm to clear the grates with a rake. After 10 minutes standing in 8 inches of water, it finally started to recede. For comparison, here is the "After" picture:
