Frigid Air to Attack Northeast Again
The weather is pretty much boring me to tears this week. It's so boring, Carl's making fun of it. The only story of any worth is that extreme cold air (probably the coldest of the season in some locations) is coming back to New England this weekend.
The Greenland Block, which AccuWeather.com Professional's Joe Bastardi often refers to, will be in full effect and the Arctic will unload as the jetstream is forced south. (Tip: It's over Greenland and it Blocks the cold air from circulating eastward).
However, it won't be Blocking for long if the AccuWeather.com 15-Day Forecast for here in State College, PA comes true. The graph below from AccuWeather.com Planner (info) shows that temperatures will quickly rebound by mid-week.
The later we wait this winter and the closer to Spring that we get, the harder it's going to be for these cold blasts to stick around. That said, I'm sure we could still get another blizzard or two in. I'll boldly predict the Blizzard of the Century here in Central Pennsylvania on April 14, 2006 (that's when I move in to my new house).
