Friday Featured Fotos: Pix This Week In Depth!
In this week's Friday Featured Fotos I wanted to try something a little different and go in-depth with several photos uploaded this week - zooming in and panning around on the full-size photos to illustrate features that you might not normally notice when browsing through the AccuWeather.com Photo Gallery.
NOTE: THE VIDEO ABOVE MAY BE PRECEDED BY ADVERTISEMENTS ON AD-SUPPORTED SITESFor those of you unable to see the video because you're on a mobile device, join me when you get back to your desktop as I parse a sunset photo to show precipitation not reaching the ground (virga), sun rays, and smokestack-induced clouds. I then take a look at footprints up a snowy hill, a major scary storm front in Australia, flooding in Missouri and the Navy War Memorial in Washington D.C.
HurricaneGirl, AKA Thunderwoman on her MySpace account, is really Mark Kirk from Jacksonville, Florida. She describes herself as "an amateur cloud photographer" but from what I've seen she's got some pretty impressive weather photos (none recently, but I have high hopes!)RANDOM PHOTOS FROM HurricaneGirl: (RELOAD FOR MORE)
Nancy Sathre-Vogel from Boise, Idaho is familyonbikes on the Photo Gallery. Her family is biking from Alaska to Argentia starting this summer, if you can believe that. Check out her pics of her family - and their 3-person bike. We look forward to seeing photos from their trip starting in June.MOST RECENT PHOTOS FROM familyonbikes:

Friday Featured Fotos is a weekly weather photography show where I take a look at (and explain) the best photos in the AccuWeather.com Photo Gallery archive, look at photo-related gadgets, and welcome new users. Future segments may include photography, videography, and webcam tips and reviews. Any photo from the Gallery is qualified to be in this show (unlike our Moderators Picks awards, which concentrate on weather photos from the last month), so if you've seen something on the Gallery you'd like me to feature, drop me an email at community @ accuweather.com
