Frequent Weekend Winter Storm Updates!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: I will be updating this blog throughout the weekend with the latest winter precipitation amounts, maps and photos / video from the storm; this morning and this evening I will take a look at how the models have been trending and I'll update a complete storm radar animation starting this evening.
3 PM SATURDAY: NWS reports... Silverton, Colorado: BLIZZARD: Snow drifts to 5 feet, winds to 80 mph. Iowa: HEAVY SLEET: Multiple cities reporting 1-2 inches. Nebraska and Kansas: HEAVY ICE: Over three quarters of an inch. Trees and power lines down.
11 AM SATURDAY: Nebraska and Kansas are reporting a widespread ice storm this morning; freezing rain is also falling in Missouri and Illinois. Light snow is falling in Iowa and Minnesota. Heavy snow has fallen in Colorado and Wyoming and Michigan (lake-effect) over the last 24 hours.
