Florence to be Monster Storm
Today's episode of WeatherPoint CounterPoint, which pits AccuWeather.com meteorologist Ken Reeves against Joe Bastardi, and is available on the Video Page of our subscription services PREMIUM | PRO) was worth watching (I'll post a copy next week for all to view). Not only because of the Florence commentary, but because of more spirited banter regarding the government's National Hurricane Center and their "interesting" decisions during Ernesto (see also Joe Sobel's comments last week).
Here are some quotes from today's video:
Joe Bastardi: I have no doubt that when we get to Monday or Tuesday [Florence is] gonna be a big, classic Atlantic hurricane - people are going to say: "Look at the size of that thing!"
Ken Reeves: "It's gonna be a monster."
Right now we're progging Florence to make a close pass to Bermuda then approach the Canadian Maritimes. Other storm tracks in Florence's current position include Diane (1955) which hit the Outer Banks, Frances in 2004 which hit Florida and Fabian (2003) which stayed out over the Atlantic. Florence makes #6 for us this year, versus 14 storms by this time in Crazy 2005.
