Flood and Fire Video, Plains Rains Update
More heavy rain fell last night in the Plains, to the tune of 6 inches or more in parts of Northern Oklahoma, according to Doppler and rain gauge radar estimates this morning (see also preliminary Doppler / gauge and Doppler-only maps previously posted here):
These areas were already affected by flooding earlier this week... if you look at the two maps, there are isolated areas where the recent rains will have added on to already high totals, notably northeast Oklahoma.
And then there was this tragic but ironic video
from an unknown location in Oklahoma Tuesday, probably shot Monday, where houses were under water but one was on fire. Firefighters couldn't get to the house so they had to let it burn.
What's in store for the Plains? The NMM Forecast Model [JessePedia] has lowered to 1-2" its prediction of widespread rain (in Oklahoma during the next 4 days) from last night's prediction of 3-4 inches (shown above). Note that the lower prediction is from the Weird Runs [JessePedia], so this could change. This area must be closely monitored for the rest of the week.
