First Snowflakes In Northeast This Week
I found the following official observations this week that indicated the first frozen precip of the season in the Northeast & Great Lakes:
Owosso, Michigan: Light Snow 2am-7am TodayAlma, Michigan: Unknown Precip* 2am TodayBig Rapids, Michigan: Unknown Precip* 7am TodayBellaire, Michigan: Unknown Precip* 9am ThursdaySaranac Lake, NY: Light Snow 5-6am ThursdaySaranac Lake, NY: Unknown Precip Wednesday

The high peaks got some as well - you can still see the snow on the Stowe Mountain Vermont ski cam and of course on Mount Washington, which fell to 21 degrees last night. This was actually their first snow this year, usually happens in September. Shots from their webcams are shown above and below; see the promo at right and read Brian's Mount Washington Blog for more information on the Home of the World's Worst Weather.
Here in State College, PA, I was 32 degrees at midnight, 37 at 6am, and 40 by 8am after the rain started. No snowflakes were observed here - if you spotted one, leave me a Comment.
*Unknown Precip occurs when the automated weather station sensors become confused. This could indicate sleet or a rain/snow mix.
