Eyewall Lightning and Intense Rain
Now Hurricane Ophelia has had some impressive lightning and heavy rain in its eyewall (click on image below from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus). Let's be thankful that eyewall is not on shore. Because of the slow movement, the rain is piling up.
While I don't buy the radar's claim of "Max 21.0 Inches" because the highest I see on the image is 12-14 inches, but that's nothing to sniff at. (Sometimes ground clutter interferes with the precip algorithms and tiny points near the radar's center show exorbitant amounts).
