Extreme Heat Will Be Widespread
Summer's coming, folks, no joke. Temperatures will be very hot across most of the United States by the weekend.
Thursday will be the first really hot day nationwide. According to this split-screen snapshot* of the RealFeel temperature* on Thursday afternoon, the entire nation will exceed 100 degrees with the exception of New England and the Pacific Northwest. Every state will be over 90 with the exception of Maine, New Hampshire, the "small states" and Washington state.
AccuWeather.com believes the hottest day with the most widespread heat will be Saturday with widespread 90s from Florida to Canada and temperatures over 100 in the Plains.
The National Weather Service agrees, shows the hottest weather, with temperatures as high as 106 in South Dakota...
...but believes that the hottest day overall will be Monday (pure yellow = 90 degrees).
*The splitscreen was created by taking two separate images from the AccuModel weather forecast model which is available on our Pro site). The RealFeel temperature is a proprietary algorithm which factors in humidity, sunlight, wind and more to tell you what it really feels like.
